The following pieces of writing are from Year 1 students and are based on; myths, legends and the solar system:

“The moon was shining on her; a cloud came and covered the moon… She tripped on the tree root and the jar smashed. She was so angry at the moon.” By Treye

“She cursed at the moon and he grabbed Kona by the waist, but she held onto a tree… the next morning the family were worried, they went and looked for her…” by Bailee

Our PTA provided catering for the children and families after the Mass. Other examples include the support provided by parents to coach and support sports teams. The support of the community allows for our children to have access to additional resources, sports and experiences outside of the school.

During our recent staff prayer, Mrs Brits shared how the Mercy Sisters’ Charism promotes education. As a staff we shared what working in a Catholic school means to us personally and professionally. I would like to share some of the values expressed, because to me personally they represent the true value of Catholic education. Some of the values are:
– Providing quality education.
– Listening & caring, understanding the needs of other people.
– Compassion (food bank, cards for sick, financial support, being part of the community).
– Faith in action “What would Jesus do?”
– Assisting with funding for camp so that all children get the experience.
– Caritas Lent challenges.

These values are the defining qualities of Catholic education.
