Newsletter Week 5, Term 2

St Michael's Catholic School, Wednesday 24th May

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Tēnā koutou kātoa e te whānau,

Gosh, we are halfway through term 2 and already have so much to celebrate.
Last Sunday, we came together to celebrate our school Baptism, where 13 children were warmly welcomed into our parish community. This event was truly special, and I extend my deepest gratitude to Kate Keaney and Fr. Thomas for their outstanding efforts in organising this community celebration. It was lovely to see so many members of our school community at Mass for this very special celebration.
It is through these moments of unity and shared experiences that we foster a sense of belonging and create lasting memories for our students. Our school community thrives when we come together to celebrate our faith, achievements, and connections.
Our camp to Lake Whakamaru in week 3 was a resounding success. Although it was cold and wet, the children and parents had a fabulous time. We extend heartfelt thanks to the parents who joined us, providing invaluable support to our students. Special recognition goes to Shayla O'Neill and Jo Paget for their outstanding organisation, ensuring a memorable and seamless experience for all involved.

Parking
It has come to our attention that some vehicles are parking on the concrete pads outside the convent driveway, which is not permitted. This poses a significant risk to the safety of our children and can impede the flow of traffic. I kindly request all parents and visitors to also refrain from parking on the yellow lines outside our school.

Winter Uniform
I am pleased to announce an update to our school uniform for Term 2 and 3. In collaboration with NZ Uniforms, we have added navy cargo pants as an option for both girls and boys. These pants provide comfort, durability, and practicality, making them suitable for the colder seasons. They can be purchased from the NZ Uniform shop. Children are also permitted to wear black or navy polyprops under their school polo during the cooler months.

As we continue through Term 2 and approach the second half of the academic year, let us carry the spirit of celebration and gratitude with us.

Have a wonderful week whanau,

Rachael McLanachan
