Newsletter Week 7, Term 2
St Michael's Catholic School, Wednesday 7th June
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa e te whānau,
The past few weeks have been very busy for our students and staff.
It is wonderful to see our senior children taking full advantage of the free swimming lessons that the Rotorua Swim School provide our school. As a reminder, please ensure that your child brings their togs for the rest of this week.
This is a valuable opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress with their teacher and address any concerns you may have. As teachers will be involved in interviews from 2pm on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, we ask if possible, parents collect their children at 1:45pm on both days. We will have staff available to supervise children who are unable to be picked up.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the children who recently received their First Communion and Confirmation at St. Michael's Church. It is a significant milestone in their spiritual journey, and we are proud of their commitment and dedication.
Last week, a group of senior students represented our school in a chess tournament held at St. Mary's School. They showcased their strategic skills and sportsmanship, making us all very proud. Well done to Grayson Burns who came third overall in the Rookie category.
Finally, I would like to express our gratitude to the parents who volunteered as marshals and provided support during our recent Cross Country event. Your presence and assistance were instrumental in ensuring its success. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our school community.
We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting enrolments from siblings of families who are already part of our school community. This allows us to better plan our staffing and resources. If you have siblings of a child who would like to join our school this year or early next year, we encourage you to get in touch with the office or drop off the enrolment forms as soon as possible.
Our school is also accepting enrolments from individuals who hold preference status within our community. If you or someone you know qualifies for preference status, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
However, we want to inform you that there is currently a waiting list for non-preference enrolments. While we value every application, we must prioritise those who meet the preference criteria.
It is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to Kate Keaney, our dedicated Junior Team Leader and Director of Religious Studies (DRS). We are proud to announce that Kate has accepted a new position as a PE teacher at John Paul College. While we are sad to see her go, we are thrilled for her as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her career. Kate has been an exceptional leader and teacher, always going above and beyond to support our students and staff. Her passion for teaching and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment have made a lasting impact on our school community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kate for her unwavering dedication and wish her the very best in her future endeavors at John Paul College. She will be greatly missed, by staff and students.
We welcome Jo Fleet to our staff as Year 2/3 teacher in the Ark for the remainder of the year.
Have a great week whanau,
