St Michael's Catholic School, Wednesday 21st June

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Tēnā koutou kātoa e te whānau,
Last Thursday, our school had the pleasure of hosting Andrew Chinn, who delighted our students with his incredible songs. They had a fantastic time singing along and the hall was filled with energy! We extend a big thank you to Andrew Chinn for sharing his talent and making it such a memorable experience.
We had a beautiful liturgy to celebrate the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday. We reflected on Jesus' love and compassion, reminding us of the importance of kindness and forgiveness.
This week, we were proud to host the Weetbix TRY event at our school. Our students demonstrated their running skills and worked together in fun activities and friendly competition. Their enthusiasm was inspiring. We appreciate Weetbix and Sport BOP for organising this event that promotes the health and well-being of our students.
I would like to express gratitude to our dedicated staff and parent volunteers who made the Weetbix TRY event possible. Your support is greatly valued.
Say goodbye to scattered newsletters, missed school alerts, and forgotten calendar events. With our revamped website, we've streamlined the way you access vital information about your child's school life.
Now, you can easily stay up-to-date with the latest news, announcements, and important updates, all in one convenient location.
We have noticed a concerning trend of children arriving late to school on a regular basis. It is crucial that your child arrives on time as it greatly impacts their learning throughout the day. Late arrivals disrupt teachers' lessons and the learning of other children. Moreover, when a child arrives late, they often feel lost and unsure of what to do, causing further interruptions. Teachers have to repeat the morning session for the latecomer, which is frustrating for everyone involved. We kindly request that you ensure your child is at school by 8:45am so they can have ample time with their friends and properly prepare for the day ahead.
Our teachers are actively monitoring late arrivals, and we will be reaching out to parents to discuss how we can assist in ensuring your child arrives at school on time. We look forward to discussing strategies and finding solutions that will help your child start their day on the right foot.
As we come to the end of another busy term, we are thankful for the enriching experiences our school community has enjoyed and we look forward to more exciting events and learning in term 3.
Have a great week whanau,

Enrolments
We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting enrolments from siblings of families who are already part of our school community. This allows us to better plan our staffing and resources. If you have siblings of a child who would like to join our school this year or early next year, we encourage you to get in touch with the office or drop off the enrolment forms as soon as possible.
Our school is also accepting enrolments from individuals who hold preference status within our community. If you or someone you know qualifies for preference status, we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity.
However, we want to inform you that there is currently a waiting list for non-preference enrolments. While we value every application, we must prioritise those who meet the preference criteria.
