A heartfelt welcome to all new students and families entering St Michael's Catholic Primary School. I wish you a happy and rewarding association with the school and wider community. To those who have had a long association with our lovely school, your support and positive input is hugely appreciated. I am excited to be your principal, and look forward to getting to know you all better.
It is a privilege to share with you the journey of shaping our students as they grow into fine young citizens. To have a positive impact on the lives of our children and their families is what drives me in my daily decision making. I take very seriously the responsibility that you have given to us, to assist your child to become a confident, competent and connected citizen.
As your principal, I can assure you that I will strive every day to ensure that every St Michael's student is provided with optimum opportunities to find their gifts, and reach their personal potential. Every child deserves the opportunity to excel, and our task as educators is to provide the opportunities for this to happen. Learning should be meaningful and fun, and teachers continue to be empowered to provide further opportunities that “hook” children into learning. Students will have increasing opportunities to make choices, to take ownership of their learning and to make decisions in real life situations.
Our school values of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are evident in the school, and you can expect your children to be very familiar with the meanings of these values. Please talk at home about these values and what they mean in your family environment. These values, combined with our school motto “Striving for Excellence” and our Vision Statement "To provide a sound and balanced education in a Catholic Environment", are the drivers of every decision made by the Board of Trustees and myself as principal.
Please take the time to get to know the staff and the Board of Trustees. Make the most of the opportunities offered to come into school, go on class trips and be involved in any way you can. The teachers and students relish any opportunity to share with you the learning that is happening in school. I look forward to working alongside you as we craft your child's pathway to success here at St Michael's Catholic Primary School
Nga mihi nui,
